If the shell is blue with brown layered on, it will be blue on the inside. if it is a brown shell with blue spots, it should be white or tan inside.

Don't mean to ruin all the fun. New to incubating and hatching. I think I may need to assist one or both of the two ducks that have pipped.
I'm less worried about one. It has a large hole and is cheeping. Started to turn one way and quit making progress late last night, and no progress as of 5 hours ago, but has since started turning the other direction and making slow progress.
These were shipped eggs (wanted to put them under a broody duck). All of them had loose air cells. I have 5 duck eggs in there, but I think these 2 are the only viable ones. The one I'm worried about did have saddle shaped air cell to begin with. It did pip into one of the original dips, but I can see veined membrane between the pip point and the air cell. About 14 hrs ago was when I found they had pipped, since I had not been home I checked them both to see if they were having problems and to up the humidity level. They are late Day 32 now. When I first found it had pipped I could hear clicking inside so I left it be. Now I hear nothing, see no movement with candling and the membrane has started to dry around the hole. Know it may already be gone, but I want to give it a chance if it is not.
Biggest question after reading the assisted hatching guide, by Sally Sunshine, is can I use a different antibiotic ointment to keep the membrane moist? I don't keep bacitracin containing products around due to allergies, what I have on hand is a antimicrobal silver wound gel.
Thanks for any help and advice.
A ZIP should only take a few minutes to an HOUR... are you sure its zipping? if it is get it out, zipping like a zipper??????????????Don't mean to ruin all the fun. New to incubating and hatching. I think I may need to assist one or both of the two ducks that have pipped.

Can you post a couple of pics? See above post from Sally.Quote:
They are the White Layer hybrid from Metzer Farms. I candled about 36 hours ago to check if any were still alive, since it was past the hatch date, and heard chirping then. Guessing that was the one that is still making slow progress. Saw no external pips as of 22 hrs ago, but found they both had when I got home yesterday about 14-15 hours ago.
I'm not sure if it is zipping, it may be stuck. It has bashed a pretty big hole in the egg. I'd say about 1/2" from top to bottom and now about an 1" wide.
This is my first hatch, and I know I've gotten some of it wrong. Pretty sure I've had temps too low, since they are late.
I can try to post a pic, but it probably won't work. On dial-up and no mobile data coverage here.
