says me.... stop the madness

Hey Ren never gave a final update on the bator did she? she had more ducklins no, and what about the quail hatch, I cant spell her byc name to tag her anyone remember how its spelled? and the quail under a serama roo... is that possible really>?

I'm using a window planter and one of my wife's big mixing bowls for feeders....I have 2 gallon heated dog bowls sitting inside totes as waterers...that's keeps my ducks from making a wet mess...kinda redneck...but they work.

How long after they BARELY break the shell, should I expect and "air hole" kinda pip?
I had quite a few that barely cracked the shell, which I think is nothing more than an internal pip, and even after making an external pip, most of them didn't zip for 12+ hours. I wouldn't recommend sitting up all night waiting for eggs to hatch. They come on their schedule... not ours... which can be very aggravating!

I hope the YE will be okay. Don't rush to put other chicks in with it until it has a chance to heal up some. The chicks in the bator will be fine for two to three days without food or water. That's why 1 day old chicks can be shipped Priority Mail instead of overnight delivery. They're still absorbing their yolks...

i mean like...10 hours toolong between first break in the shell...white membrane still covering the hole...tstill no air hole kinda pip?

.....I would be poking it at that point (to test for life if you haven't seen it wiggle), if it were mine. My first hatch all progressed pretty quickly though, first crack in the shell to out within a day. The first chick took a total of about 8 hours from pip to out.
