Just finished tallying the egg numbers from this week, I got 46 eggs from my 9 layers!

(The 3 bantams, the 2 roosters, and the 7 1/2 year old hen do not count!! )

Smart, like their mama. In the center of the table is where the plate of cookies goes, or maybe that's just my family.

i did just that Mike, and the buns and butter on each side. it worked fine and no one really cared anyways!

Went out to do fresh feed and water in the brooder and for sure there is 1 chickie that poked her head out to say HI

Thanks, Sally. The eggs these chicks came from were from a 10 month old flock, and of all 25 eggs I've gotten, all were fertile. I suppose it depends on what kind of quality you're looking for as to which hen to choose. Just for comparative purposes, I set one of my Production Red eggs in the bator next to the largest Barred Rock egg to show the difference in size. The Barred Rock eggs may be larger once the hens are fully matured, but I've never owned any, so I can't say they will or won't. The quality of the eggs my hens are laying is impeccable... not to mention... delicious!!!

Merry Christmas everybody!! Most of my xmas eve hatch is done. There were a few late poppers hatching yet this morning. I moved another batch of cream legbars into the hatchers this morning and started another batch of black copper Marans.

Hi everyone Merry Christmas my little chick is doing well the egg that is do to hatch tomorrow has turned in its shell and getting ready so fingers crossed I spent the day w my mom and family lots of mimosas came home to relax and check on everything at home and then going back over in a little for wine and merriment I hope everyone else is also enjoying themselves
