What a difference 24 hours makes.  It looks like it is SO hard from them, but they just rest, and then try again until they make it out.  #6 was from the tiniest little egg, but the chicks are all the same size.  I'm still laughing that I have 5 silkies.  1 black roo, 3 white hens and 1 grey/blue hen.  I don't know who's eggs were whos, and I am ending up with brown/buff babies.  Should be interesting what color they turn out.

How are you this evening?

I am doing fine this evening, despite the nasty cold weather we are having!
Glad the little one made it out, with my silkies, it seems the smallest eggs are the first and fastest from pip to zip!
How do you determine Roo or hen in day old silkies? I have not been able to do that effectively despite three years of trying.

So my humidity is going up slowly, but up. Still staying in the desired range though. Does this mean there is an internal pip? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Humidity will rise as they pip. The shells are porous, and they are starting to absorb and dry from internal pip to hatch, so yes, normal.
And no question is stupid except the one you don't ask! :highfive:

I can't tell roo from hen until they grow streamers. I'm talking about the parents. All the eggs I have set are from the 5 adults that I have.
