Is there a way to make a quick make/shift incubator? I just need it for Lockdown phase.

Why not make a cooler-bator? Then you'd have something for long-term use. I've not made one for myself, 'cause I already have a styro unit that suffices for my purposes, but I don't think they're all that complicated. You should check out Sally's article on them, on the 1st page of this thread...I believe it's also on her signature line whenever she posts. Good luck with whichever route you take.Is there a way to make a quick make/shift incubator? I just need it for Lockdown phase.

I am having a hard time getting up and getting that first cup of coffee...... Was that Arabic you guys are speaking?
Ok, better understanding of problem now. Any box or aquarium with a heat source and no drafts should suffice. I would leave the eggs under the broody until hatch, then quickly move them to the temp brooder. Do you have a desk lamp or trouble light you could suspend over a small box or aquarium? I have done this many times in the past. Suspend the light high enough not to burn the box, the chicks will move closer or farther from the light as they need the heat or need to cool.I put the last 5 eggs under a second broodie last night they were cold all the way through and I did not expect anything. I check on her and found thisOk scooped up the freezing Chick who was still wet from hatching and blew on her. she peeped. I ran in the house she is warm and moving now The Broodie moved the eggs off her to the back of the nest box and just let her be alone in the 40 deg weather. I candled real quickly and there is another of the eggs chirping. Is there some way to get a box cooler or something to temp and humidity to bring the eggs in to hatch or should I just keep checking every half hour? I am sorry I know this is the incubating thread and my botched broodie is alot of off topic.

Not at all off topic. Like our esteemed Canadian contingent told someone else yesterday, the only dumb question is the one unaskedI put the last 5 eggs under a second broodie last night they were cold all the way through and I did not expect anything.

I think that an extra fan will serculate the hot air, and will solve the problam! \Good suggestion, and I have thought about doing that, but I'd like to verify that it really is an issue before I try it. -Kathycould you move them around at some point if you have this issue?
