I put the last 5 eggs under a second broodie last night they were cold all the way through and I did not expect anything.
I check on her and found this

Ok scooped up the freezing Chick who was still wet from hatching and blew on her. she peeped.
I ran in the house she is warm and moving now The Broodie moved the eggs off her to the back of the nest box and just let her be alone in the 40 deg weather.
I candled real quickly and there is another of the eggs chirping. Is there some way to get a box cooler or something to temp and humidity to bring the eggs in to hatch or should I just keep checking every half hour?

I am sorry I know this is the incubating thread and my botched broodie is alot of off topic.

Oh, so glad you found this little one. Will be watching for the other egg to hatch!

I'VE GOT CHICKEN EGGS!!!!!
Eggs shipped out on Saturday the 26th, I received them on Monday the 28th. No damage to any of them. Won a dozen eggs and they sent 16 (14 Dominiques and 2 Black Copper Marans). They are currently resting and will go into the bator tomorrow.

Oh wow, glad they are looking good, were they cold cold? Or not too bad? Love those dark ones. :) Looks like they were wrapped nice!

I am asking because DH would like to take the Chriping egg from Sunshine and hatch it inside thinking Heated room to 90 deg for other abandoned chick put a steaming sponge or cloth in a zip lock and watch for it to hatch. I keep checking on Sunshine she is still on the egg and I still hear chirping no tapping yet though. Either way could be the death of this poor chick I just am not sure which is more dangerous.

I have a very large, good natured, RIR rooster and the following hens:
-Welsummer - lays very large spotted dark brown eggs - ~6 a week
-Pearl White Leghorn - lays huge white eggs almost every day - 6 to 7 a week
-Barred rock - consistant large light brown layer - ~6 a week
-Dominique - not laying yet
-RIR - great layer - will produce pure bread RIR's - ~6 a week
-Golden Laced Wyandotte - consistent brown egg layer - ~6 a week
-Ameraucana - (currently not laying - we will probably have chicks from her in the spring - but beautiful blue eggs)
-Buff Brahma - Not laying yet

The first batch I'm hatching will be 4 of the Welsummer eggs and 4 of the White Leghorn. I want to keep it narrow so I can know what hens produce what chicks. Hopefully I'll get at least one hen from each. My hope is to get the spotted eggs from the Welsummer offspring and the production from the leghorn. Tough part with this is it will be 7 months before I know.

I'd appreciate any tips as to what I would get with the above mixes. For example - will my leghorn give me Red Sex Links? I figure I'll find out in 3 weeks either way.
Welcome, I also have a real nice looking RIR boy. He also has a nice white leghorn out there. I found out, that no, white leghorn to RIR does not make a sex link. I will have to go and find that chart someone gave me on another thread.

I just have the lid off. It is on to stay now until hatch time. It's in a room, on the floor. :)

How long does it take for a chick to make an external pip after they have made an internal pip? I am asking because every now and again I hear peeping from the bator. (Internal pips) and was Wondering when I could expect an external pip.

It can take them from an hour to a day, in my experience. They make the internal pip, get used to breathing air as their lungs fill, and rest with this new feeling.
