Finer than frog hair split three ways. If you split a frog hair, which is already very fine, into 3 strands... it becomes ultra-fine.

Here in washington you can't take anything from the dump..
It's so wasteful..
I've seen people dump lots good stuff that can be reused.
Some of the stuff I can't believe they just didn't give it away thru craigslist. .

A big advantage of my leg banding system is that I can tell the age of every bird by looking at the band color. I've used numbered bandettes a long time but always white cause I don't see that well in my old days. But changing the color each year was a real revelation.
With 6+ flocks of all black birds, naming is impossible - even if I did want to - which I don't.
It makes record keeping much more organized and the spreadsheets are neater.


Next on the list are trapnests. Once those are in place, micro chipping down the road.

Warning! Some of us have been known to up the ante and apply the principle to large mini fridges. I only put three Turner trays in mine

I started building mine out of a shelving unit my son was throwing away. It is currently set up for 3 trays but I plan on pulling the shelves out and building a combined 5 or 6 rack turner.

My DW hates when I go to the dump. She claims it is just like her going to the mall! I usually come back with more than I left with.
I have found some good 'sales' there!
Last fall, I found a complete garden tiller, needed a spark plug!
