Here's seems to be healing well but there was an attack on 3 others last night. Really sad. We had to cull 1. I put them all back in the nursery area where there is total seclusion from the adult birds. I had moved them to an area where there is partial integration, just like I've done in the past but this time didn't go well. I'll have to do something different from now on. My adult birds are lucky to be alive right now, I've gone through a lot to have these brahma babies. All of my adult birds are hatchery babies and are easily replaceable if they are going to be mean like that. I've watched them all fight for their in the pecking order but never to the point of blood :(

Oh poor babies! :hugs

Oh no, that is terrible. :hugs

If a bird has worms, won't feathers lose their gloss, like a dog's coat will look dull?

I  just figured you'd see them in the feces.    Correct me anyone??

You *might* see roundworms if they poop one out, and maybe tape segments, but capillary worms, cecal worms, gizzard worms and very small. Also unlikely to see gape worms.

I was bawling, it was terrible. The other two will be ok bUT the one we had to cull was totally skinned from the top of the head to the bottom of his neck. The adult birds saw my wrath but they'really still alive. I was too worried about tending to the babies so they survived the night. Although they are locked in the run right now and that's where they're going to stay for a few days. Don't worry, it's covered ;)

Here is my lovely surprise! Two blue And from Eden Camp. The girl is plot to silkied and the boy is split to chocolate 2nd probably split to silkied as well. We'll find out in about 5 months when the girl starts laying.

very cool, and now I am even more glad we live in the same town!

Roundworms I think are the only ones you see obviously, and by the time you see them in the poop, they are very overloaded...

You are correct! Cecal worms can also be seen, but you really gotta look for them and I think you will only ever see them in cecal poop.

I'm sorry for the loss. I'm sure it was horrible to see. My hens are SO aggressive, I have to slowly introduce full grown chickens in with them. They attack anything new.
