Good for you! It'll be fun.

Just found my lavender dead in the coop. No idea what happened, no signs of violence and there was no warning signs what so ever of sickness.

Did she stop laying eggs? It could be EYP (egg yolk peritonitis) or internal laying, their are some bacteria that can cause sudden death in chickens, it could be also a fatty liver problem, keep a close eye on the outer chickens for the next few days. You can check here abdominal cavity, and her liver fir more information!

I am going to set again next month for a fertility check. And then again so that some hatch on my birthday or around it.

I can try. Candle from the bottom/narrow end, right? I'm not completely dense.... I swear.

NOOO, You with a flashlight ALWAYS candle from the FAT end/air cell so it shines down through that open space,

AGAIN, put flashlight on FAT end/aircell and hold egg upright/fat end up and do not turn or rotate egg, rotate flashlight!

FIRST IMAGE.... is only to show you how they cup the end of the flashlight in their palm to protect egg and send light down into egg.

THE SECOND IMAGE shows you how to hold the egg UPRIGHT and candle down into it!
AGAIN, ALWAYS keep fat end up, at candles when they are messed up from shipping!

I'm on a roll tonight. Just updated the layout of the blog and working on reviewing my recipes online so they are more user-friendly. I'm having to translate them to have both metric and US measurements for my worldwide audience and I'm also putting them in my family recipe book. SUPER busy!
