Morning y'all. Just woke my butt up!
go where?
We're visiting family in Texas right now. We go back to Belgium next Sunday.
Good Morning! :lau
Oh Lordy I WANT IT.
I imagine everyone looks like their avatar, even if its a chicken. :pop
Same. I'm a chicken, everyone is a chicken.
Good morning. I've been trolling the thread, trying to catch up on the latest... the very latest, I might add. Too far behind to catch completely up, but it is what it is. Been under the weather, but turning the corner now. I'm behind on all my chores, so I'll be popping in and out during the day. I hope everyone is doing well... and Benny ( @Akrnaf2 ) ... I'm going to need a bigger cup!!!
Glad you're back and feeling better!

but is should be hotter because it's right next to the heating element.
An ear thermometer will not measure the temperature of the air in the incubator. It needs a solid object to measure heat radiation... even if it's something as simple as a rock sitting in the incubator. A water wiggle that's been in the incubator for 24 hours would be perfect, since you could put the thermometer in the center and measure it like you would an ear.

Idk what too do anymore.
Just take the lid off the bator & lay your $40 ear thermometer right next to one of the others. See how the readings differ from one another. Don't worry about the temp dropping right now...it'll come back up when you put the lid back on.

Better yet, put one of the thermometers (not the ear thermometer...it won't read that low) in a baggie full of ice and water, seal the baggie, and let it set for a couple minutes. It should settle on 32* If it doesn't add or subtract whatever it says to equal 32*; that will be how many degrees off the thermometer is off.

Hey, I have an idea... why not put a grocery store egg in an incubator, let it come up to temp, then use the ear thermometer? Not suggesting this as a way around properly calibrating thermometers, but it might be helpful?
