I can only imagine it would be very difficult to hatch penguin eggs. Freezing cold on one side, and a warm belly on the other. It amazes me they hatch at all under those conditions...

They're balanced on the mom and dad's feet so I don't think any side freezes.

Saris I am glad the birds are doing better!

sorry not sure why I am having issues with quoting but it certainly is annoying!!

Me too, though not the quote issues.

I didnt know you wanted me CH what up? sorry I have messages and tags all over the place, trying hard to catch up!! and website issues to boot!

... If a fruit or veggie is less than perfect, if it has a blemish, into the trash it goes. When it's possible to grow an incredible amount of food in a multiculture system that takes care of the soil, why aren't we doing that? Instead, farmers are being contracted by mega companies like Monsanto to grow the crops as they dictate, with a spray program dictated by them, with GMO seeds provided by them. Soil is stripped of all life and nutrients, more chemicals are poured on, and the practice continues. The farmers loose, and we certainly loose by being provided with food that is lacking in nutrients and contaminated with glyphosphates.
I can't agree more, especially on the blemished food stuff.

I once passed a truckload of bananas dumped on the side of the road in Costa Rica that had the wrong curvature so weren't salable in US or European markets.

HERE is my issue with the weigh eggs thing.....
When I weighed my own 7 day old eggs things are fine. Trouble is most people are incubating shipped eggs where the original weights are FAR FAR different than when we set our own. Number one issue being the way people pack everything in newspaper and cardboard without protecting the eggs from loosing weight. The ship leaving both ends of the bubble wrap open most times because that is WHAT is suggested to them. It is known through research that we can store eggs in plastic bags to help prevent the loss and the ph changes in the albumen. Anyways, if we are weighing for such accuracy how can we do so with such unknowns on the eggs themselves? Most times we set our own eggs are basically a A grade or AA grade egg. When we get them shipped they are most times well Beyond a B grade egg. If you look at the images below, that is already quite weight loss.

My issue is honestly telling people to weigh eggs on this unknown, I always try to tell them the perfect methods and back up everything I tell someone. This weighing of shipped eggs I just cant ever suggest to someone, esp a new hatcher....... I know how easy it is to say "it worked for me" but that would be just heresay..... am I making any sense in all that blabber above? I pray paddler you can seriously open my mind up here, as it is its not.

I agree with that. I haven't incubated shipped eggs in a long time and that was before I started weighing.
When I know I'm setting certain eggs, I try to weigh them on collection and again on setting.

I thought I'd share some travel plans.

My inconclusive travel plans for 2016

I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.

I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there..

I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.

I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.

I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.

I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.

Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!

And, sometimes I think I am in Vincible but life shows me I am not.

People keep telling me I'm in Denial but I'm positive I've never been there before!

I may have been in Continent, but I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing. They tell me it is very wet and damp there.

I have been in Deeps++t many times; the older I get, the easier it is to get there.

Afternoon paddler! :hugs Thank you for more input, I am not certain about having the weigh thing in my article and info without adding a statement to it about shipped eggs, but having a time trying to find what to say in it, I think my mind is way too full of late.
