For sure. My father in law would take his coffee pot to work with him. Every one knew where they could get a cup if Corky was on the job.

I have not been able to follow up on the grains yet life here made plan a shift to plan b and will stay on b for awhile.

Do you know anything about spent grain from brewery? My friend who has one in town says he goes out of his way to leave the protein in and get all sugars out. I've been supplementing with them. Depends on the beer as to the make up of the grains with barley being the main ingredient

I wish I could answer that question for you but I can't. I would think it would only be good to feed as a supplement or protein booster since they take all the nutrients out and leave the protein.

I'll do some research on it but, it may be the case that you could use this in the feed mix as a substitute for soybean meal. I'll take a look.

Scribing as will be filling our bator in about a month. Some great tips on here and pictures, thanks for compiling all this information Sally. Last year I hatched for the first time and I followed a lot of your hatching guidelines, helped me a lot.

Thanks. I only give about a quarter as supplement with the pellets now. The grains are roughly ground in the process of making beer so it's more like crumbles than whole grain. They love it.

From what I'm seeing on a quick glance, protein levels are 25-34%. So I would say that you could definitely use as a substitute. It may drop the overall protein just a hair but would be a good choice. If you have access to it at a reasonable cost it could substantially drop the cost of the feed mix.

Hello all! Not terribly sure what to do here but i searched and did not find much info. Set up the outdoor brooder yesterday with two lamps. I used the regular bulbs (at least the ones you can buy these days 72w=100w) GE brand incandescent and when I woke up this morning both bulbs were blown. Less than 24 hours of life from both bulbs. Could it be the cold or possibly the position of the bulbs (IE base up). Everything is brand new. I'm very discouraged
