When do you remove a heat lamp from chicks? Mine were born Christmas day and are in the house but upstairs 48-63 degrees. I tried a search on heat lamps and too much came up. Thanks

Hi everyone, been a busy weekend. Just caught up. Trying to get larger brooder for my chicks from 2016 HAL but numerous other things came up and did not quite get it done.
Hi @LocalYokel
Question for you how do you get the @ sign to work when I put it in it does what you see above. Maybe it's this old pad I use.
The time is drawing near, Bubbles! Won't be much longer you'll be hovering over the bator... wringing your hands. Waiting... wondering... worrying... going out of your mind...![]()
Can't wait to get started, can you???![]()
Have a great night, Bubbles!!!![]()
A baby what? Looks like me when I stuck the key from a coffee can into an electric socket![]()
Awesome! I really want my serama to go broody. Broody hens are so much easier!

Congrats @Auroradream26 !!!!Good morning all! Woke up to 4 more poults in the bator, which brings me to 10 so far. The last 3 hopefuls are pipped and wigglingmy 5 week old silkies are taking turns caring for the poults in the brooder while my NYD HAL BCM chicks are enforcing the rules lol. I need to go get another heat lamp tonight so I can get my big brooder set up and move some of these guys out there. It's just SO cold out!![]()
These are 100% lousy photos but I guess that's not what a tablet is designed for.
what a good mornin for you!![]()
After coming home, from 3 days away, I am realizing the battery inside the remote to the digi thermometer was jogged loose. After 6 hours of (suspiciously) the same exact reading, I discovered it. I'm guessing the actual temps were somewhere around 98 degrees...for God knows how long. Good news is, when I candled tonight (Day 8), most air cells looked great and there are signs of life in 29/45, with 6 being supermarket eggs (they account for a big ZERO in the live category). We have: 1 Olive Egger, 2 Splash Marans, 8 BCM, 1 Lavender Cuckoo Orpington, 5 Lav. Orpingtons,1 Frizzle, 4 Crested Cream Legbars, 3 Bielefelders and 4 Silkies (thanks AGAIN Kathy @Jessimom !)... In the ones that are viable at this point, there was still a lot of movement. I had to make a run to the 24 hour pharmacy for my 5 year old (ear infection...apparently)... I caught all this when I came home and checked on the babies...thank goodness! I'm up now and watching all 3 thermometers until everything settles out... Talk to me about the damage.![]()
@Sally Sunshine @mlmddh
