I've done it. I drove almost 2 hours at 5 AM this morning to stand for over an hour and a half in the freezing cold so I could be in line to adopt a puppy from a shelter at the southern end of my state. Then, I had to wait 3 hours till the shelter finally opened up so I could pick her out. She's a Jack Russell/mix. I think she has some hound in her. She just about made my ears bleed when we started driving home. There was some baying mixed in with the yipping. From all I'm seeing, she's going to be an awesome dog, and very easy to train. I hope she'll be a safe presence around my chickens to help deter hawks.

Marked air cells for day 7! All are doing good and developing

Ugh!,,home early from work for once, planning to move the 8" of snow off the drive and by the coops and barn, only to find my son decided to clear snow for me and broke the cylinder rod on my bobcat bucket!

If he hadn't been trying to do me a favour he might not be breathing very well right now.

Oh well, chit happens. Will be spending my evening rebuilding a hydraulic cylinder I guess.

Now up to 20 chicks!!!!

Just got home and I found
1 egg left under broody
No sign of any chicks
Maybe she ate them?
She won't let any hen near her box

Also a dead quail

Cribbage night....winning so far!!!

My cousin called and has a dozen eggs for me to come get tonight so I talked my husband into the hour drive by promising dinner out!
