Did you use/have the smaller one for the duck eggs that you're having trouble with? (Looked like universal rails in the photo.)
From what Sally posted, it could certainly be a couple other things, but I know that turning was NOT good with the universal rails in mine. FWIW.

Used the rails, but will look into getting what your suggested.

I found turning with the correct size insert for the eggs worked really well. The rails were not so good.
