Doin alright. How bout yourself?
How many hens you got?
Pretty great myself. Got the week off from one job next week, means I can spend time with my husband on his day off on Monday and I can enjoy Lunar New Year.

I have eight hens, all different breeds. Once we have more space I plan on having mostly EEs and Sex Links, with d'Uccles and d'Anvers or Bielefelders.

A week off? Nice. What kinda job you work?
8 hens sounds like a handfull! We only got 5 chickens. So 4 hens and 1 roo. We are planing on having 11 hens soon though. How many chickens can you keep where you live? We can keep 6 per lot.

I have two jobs, one as a cleaning lady for a local business and one as a meat packer for a local chicken farm. We started out with four chickens, a roo and three hens but we quickly found out that it was a far from ideal setup so we got rid of our roo and added five chickens (six actually because we ate our Barred Rock). A lot of people here keep flocks of 10 or more birds, we actually have a small flock compared to most in our situation.

Speaking of, the girl at my local feed supply had an issue where one hen, despite having normal stools and eating normally, lost a bunch of weight in two days and just dropped dead. No idea what did it. Anyone got ideas? I'm thinking parasites.

That is my guess. I would reccomend getting it autopsied by a vet or someone just in case what it had was contagious (parasites, etc). But im not an expert so unfortunately i cant be of much help.

Also i just got some great news :D
