not like that stink its from the waters heating up for humidity.I think.we have hard water here.Well that stinks
How about $15?no i will pay 20 for a hen about to lay but not a chick/
is this the same bator Kathy uses?>>????Argh!!!! I hate it that the pips were on the underside - I couldn't see them to see what was happening!!!!
OK, I assisted the zippy chick. She's essentially out now, just waiting to kick the shell off - I'm going to leave her alone for a little bit. For the other pips, the problem with them pipping underneath is that I didn't always know when the first pip happened. Seems like it was longer than I thought - when I looked, all of them had firm-ish dry membrane around the pip. I enlarged a bit very carefully and tried to get any dried or stuck membrane off - two had a little bleeding so I stopped. One of them had a pretty large hole like it was making an attempt to zip (but in wrong position), but was stuck to the membrane - this was all happening on the underside, and I could not see - I suspect it may have been going on longer than I thought. I did enough to free her from the stuck bit and clear a slightly larger area, then put her back as well.
These four are alive, and I've put them back in to try some more on their own for a bit. Humidity still holding at 70%, Temp 98F.

I think this one is dead. I didn't even know it was pipped for a long time as it was on the underside. I picked away some hardened membrane. No breathing or movement.![]()
