It'd be nice to have this in the US...

The roo in my cellar is getting better, he is crowing now and making me jump every time.

Fecals can be done at home, which might be an option for some:

I'm going to look into this. Thanks for posting...
I have been in the hospital more than my share last year for pneumonia, I pray its not going to start all over again.
I hope you are truly on the mend. I'm sending my very best healing vibes your way...

I am still upset with the malposition deal and then the two others women with that bator as well. I suggested to prop one end of the bator up just a bit and to make sure the air cell is on the up side. Just curious how that would work in them. just odd, very very odd. I have ancona in from sara, I did the bleach wash and set them, cant turn them as the air cells are still loose and very wiggly watery, I am thinking they may have froze en route candle will tell.

Again, its too coincidental about those malpositions unless it is the moon phases or something odd. I dont know much about that stuff at all. but I hatched at the same time and I had no issues.
I may use mine as a hatcher from now on.
It's funny, I always dry quite a few peppers. Basically every bedroom door in my house has coat hangers full of peppers dangling at all times. We have a coffee grinder that I use to keep a fresh supply of dried pepper flakes available. I'll see if I can sneak some of that into their feed.
YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!!!

Wait you want a bunch of crazy weird chicken people to talk you out of more chickens? Isn't that kinda like checking into rehab and asking somebody for a drink?
Tell me about it. After losing Paula (who gave me 5 girls and one boy, but auto sexing markings of girls was not great), and having no girls from Lissa (better color saturation of eggs, better auto sexing as a chick). I'm thinking of collecting Lissa's eggs and doing another hatch right after this one is done. (Not hatching from Jenny again.) This is from one of her eggs from today, so Dumbledore is back in the saddle.

You guys are SUCH a bad influence...

@Fire Ant Farm
Thanks - the past day or so has kind of sucked. (Partially because of this, partially because I have too much to do at work and also too many chicken chores I need to do and building to do...)

Wait you had a landing net and you still had to chase him?
I have a solo rooster that escapes a lot (yes, it's one of my projects I need to take care of). I have to round him up frequently. Landing net doesn't cut it - I have to have something in the other hand as well. THAT works. (I'm learning WAY too much about catching roosters.)

ALL DONE WOOOOOOOOOO.

Edit: still missing a bit of trim on the north side. But we're moving chickens over right now!

This is SOOOOOO amazing!!!!

had to put this one in my first egg form one of the RIR's, found it when I went to work on the fence laying in the small run area, small thing, but it is mine,
So sweet - I love pullet eggs. I have a couple Naked Necks and a little hatchery New Hampshire that are still laying eggs like that (22 weeks old). Naturally, the one with the very best coloring and large build is already chronically laying double yolkers.

For those that asked, my cooking experiment is a huge pork shoulder that's cooking slowly in a pot with stock, with and veggies. Nothing fancy, just never done one before.

-Kathy
What a coincidence - I just bought a pork shoulder this week to try to cook - I thought it was odd that I had never tried it before. how did yours turn out?

@Sally Sunshine here's my update:
My 12 remaining aloha Naked Neck eggs went into lockdown yesterday (2/16) - set to hatch upright. Set humidity to 65%, opened vent all the way. The air cells look good (meaning they didn't grow any larger). No idea how this hatch will go, just crossing my fingers (and enjoying everyone else's hatch reports).

Not sure how long I'll last tonight, but I wanted to catch up.

Well power went out. Tonight's storm is supposed to be big. Glad I'm not incubating right now. PG&E is working on it.
Sorry about the power outage! We got sprinkles all day, but nothing measurable. I hope the storm doesn't do any damage, and I hope that it moves south!!! We need it!

Stay safe!
