Interesting! I pulled my Speckled Sussex from the brink after an infection with Cocci about two weeks after heading outside. It was a little terrifying there for a while - quite quick/sudden, frank blood on the bedding and coming out of backsides, and them puffed up like fluffy balls with beaks, not moving much. I was convinced they were as good as dead. I was so glad I had Amprol ON HAND and I immediately gave them the highest dose (holding/beak dipping everyone at least once an hour just in case). It actually took a much longer course than usual, but we made it through, and they're all fine now.
Thanks

Hey Cyndi, I test my thermometers by ice testing them, and 32 degrees means they are perfect. Anything above or below is how many degrees your thermometer is off by. Here's the link to the website I first used-
http://virtualweberbullet.com/testing-thermometers-for-accuracy.html

The boiling one is pretty hard, and the ice one is really easy. Just swirl the water around every couple minutes is what I do. Then I let it settle and read after a while. Hope this helps you, obviously you can't test the bator itself, but at least you will know if it's off.

Hi Mirajane... I read this site and calibrated my thermometers again. I came up w/the same temp readings on them. Thanks again.
I have moved the thermometers and the hygrometer/therm around inside the bator and realized that there are different temperatures within the bator. one corner will read higher than another corner of the bator and a higher temp in the center of the bator/right under the fan where the heat comes out. So, I decided to move my eggs around to the outer edges of the bator and away for the direct heat sorce and/or where the temp I want is the best.
I need to correct myself. I said I was AIMING FOR 98.5... I WAS WRONG... I AM AIMING FOR A TEMP OF 99.5.

@LocalYokel good luck with your hatch!
@billiejw89How's your first hatch coming?
Hello everybody!
Update- Today is a mix with my chickens. On a good note, I have ordered a bunch of chicks from Hoover Hatchery in IA that is NPIP and certified mycoplasma free. They will arrive the first week in March hopefully the eggs that are due that week Rees CLB, Swedish flower hens,and EE survived the required dipping, and hatch that week. We are setting Ameruacana and blue black splash English Orpingtons tonight. Sapphires to come along with LO when found.

On a sadder note my favorite hen Georgie, and my two roos go to be put down. For Georgie it is hard, but a mercy since she is still sick, the two roosters it is just sad. Here is a goodbye
