Hey experts! This is 1 of 6 Buff Brahma eggs I set 14 days ago, along with 12 silkies (all courtesy of @Jessimom!)... She gave me a set of silkie eggs spanning 3 weeks back from our set date. We thought it'd a fun, "What the hack- let's see the oldest one we can hatch!", hatch... Anyway, I went to candle and mark ACs tonight and this literally jumped out at me- A bit freaky, I must admit! These brahmas are ready to start shaving!!! What is it? Chick is moving around great.

@Sally Sunshine, et al...How are these ACs looking to you all? I've had a much harder time regulating humidity, with it not being full in there... 40-19% within 30 minutes some days!

@Fire Ant Farm Thanks for the kind words about Tucker, but I can't take any of the credit; that's all on @Auroradream26

You're about the 4th person this evening who's wanted me to change my avatar back to what it was originally

I'll never understand why anyone would rather see my ugly mug than a nice looking rooster. I guess I'll have to get a pic of me holding him so everyone's happy

@Fire Ant Farm "broody noises" are the rhythmic sounds I've heard broodies use to encourage chicks. It sounds a bit like a metronome, but instead of clicks/ticks it's a chur chur chur type of sound. I'll try to video it some day.

All my breathing is better tonight...hoping it last...could use a good nights sleep tonight.
great news Phil!

My incubator is back to running smoothly after yesterday and last night's issues. I'm hoping that I didn't lose many from the failure. Dheltzel gave me the idea to turn the front wafer WAY up and set the temp using the backup wafer instead. It's been working smoothly ever since. This fall, I'll be replacing the front switch and getting a spare for the back.

Lockdown again tomorrow.
good news on the bator!!! good luck with lockdown !!!!!

Quote: I assume so, I dont have one remember? I will assume it rolls as much as the room you have to push pull? dunno Keep in mind that my hand rolling with my palm is much different than a turner could ever do. Perhaps it is true that it strengthens embryos, but that doesnt mean incubating vertical doesnt work, most people do and many have great results! do what works for you and what your needs are. I would probably get a large cooler like my cabinet and use it like a reg cooler, you can probably get four turners on two levels to incubate on. I just have no use for turners I have one gathering dust that goes in a styro bator, perhaps one day I will need it but not now. so your on your own with that

@Lacrystol @caesargirl Any advise is welcomed...
For a duck egg...how long is too long for an internal peep WITHOUT ANY extermal piping?? I candled the egg Sunday, that my f/w runner is sitting on and saw a duckling shadow moving in the AC and heard peeping. I candled again today (late afternoon) and there is no difference. the duckling has not even moved into the AC, it is still clear save the small shadow of the duckling.
Could it be unside down? should I assist? thanks
How did this go CyndiD?
