I call that sutff..gobbledy goop! It is clear goop. Not yolk. But, I think I see some yolk on the baby that still needs to be absorbed. I would leave it alone for now. Let it get stronger. Good thing is, the legs are out, so they are positioned good, should be fine when it decides to get up and walk. Going back to enlarge the photo to see if that is yolk ..Hi all,
My pip hatched about an hour ago, but didn't completely leave it's shell. It's seems to be stuck in the bottom half, one wing is covered in goo and stuck in the shell along with 1 leg. It's been like this for an hour or so. I am not at home and this is the photo that was sent to me. It seems to have yolk or something unabsorbed. At what point do we help out? And what do we do?

Thank you so much!!! I've had such horrible luck hatching babies the last month that I'm really rooting for this one (and the rest of this batch). Here are my silkies that hatched on Tuesday. My gimpy leg chick is sort of gimpy it's whole body - it's not fluffing up. It's eating and drinking, so I hope it will get stronger.Yep, leave the baby be for awhile. Looks like it should absorb in about an hrs. time. Maybe a little longer..or less.
Take a salt tablet. Rub some dirt on it.
