Incubator question time. Below is a proposed layout for my new Reeferbator. The two fans are rated to move 45 cfm each. Should I stick with the two fan design or would that be moving to much air? I could go with one fan and have it blow directly between the light bulbs, or I could mount it on the side and have it hit both bulbs. If I go with one fan than I could use the other to make a hatcher (or I could just buy another fan or six for that). So one fan or two? Thoughts?

One. Install it & take temps all around the 'bator for hot & cold spots. If you like what you see, good. If not, well.......

So I just lost another hen to my weenie dog. And that was the last straw for me. He has killed 10+ chicks of mine. Does anyone know what I should do about this? He is an 11 year old 40-60lb male weenie dog. And I don't think that anyone wants him.

Put him on CL or take him to the pound

No, not CL! Try and avoid that if you can! Try and find a no kill shelter (if he is very adoptable, other than the chicken problem) that has foster homes, and surrender him there. Is he friendly to humans? Good with cats? Good with kids?

Thought I'd give my opinion on this fan situation you have going on. If I'm looking at this right, You're planning on mounting the bulbs on the top of the cabinet yes? If that's the way it will be I might get an extra fan and use the two that you already have. Heat rises so you'll need a fan to drive air downward towards the eggs or else the cabinet will be way hotter on the top shelf than on the bottom. In the coolerbator I just made I thought I would get away with one fan... I was wrong. Had hot spots everywhere. Installed a baffle to reflect radiant heat and another fan blowing out into the main chamber to stabilize the temps. Have it blowing above the eggs (not at them) and it circulates the air all around them. Since you're heat source is above the eggs though it may take a little engineering to figure out how to best place the fans for optimum airflow and temperature equalization. Sorry didn't mean to write a book
