I'm hoping for my Ayam Cemani chicks so much! The woman I bought them from has half her flock straight from Indonesia, and the other half straight from Greenfire Farms. This is a screenshot of the price from Greenfire:

199 dollars is a LOT for a chicken! But if I get chicks for sale, it'll probably be less than half that price. It's crazy!

Quote: Once they get to a certain size it's hard for me to do, but this early doesn't bother me at all, especially since they're ducks. No way I would do this with my peafowl eggs. Also doesn't hurt that I found two huge community nests with about 30 eggs in each.

Once I can see the actual formed chick, around day 14, it gets harder, because it's basically killing it. But dissecting an egg with an already dead chick doesn't bother me.

Wow, that is a lot. Are they vaccinated for Marek's?

I was thinking about fake eggshells one day, and I looked it up. Of course someone invented it before me! Then you don't have to crack it open. I would love to do this!
