I am so darn egg cited it's rediculous. I feel so responsible for these little buggers. Their life is in my hands. Lol

Hi Matt!!

So far, 9 out of the 13 were viable! I Tossed the other .4 on day 10. 1 had a blood ring and 3 were not fertile. I weighed 3 X so far and today is day 13 1/2. I marked air cells at day 7 and today. Most look dark inside, good veins, really cool to see! I think 1 or 2 do not look very good, but I'm not sure. I am concerned about the air sac size! What do you all think? They have lost about 45 to 50% of the required weight to =10%

Got a question. If u incubate eggs for 14 days ,and they're all clear, can you check fertility when u crack them open like u do when they're fresh ?

That I am not sure of, they could be really gross open them in a ziplock!
Let us know what you find.... I cant copy paste right now, but have a look in the notes about CLEARS are not always inferts and look at the pics.....

but if 14 of 18 are clear with no development after 14 das wouldnt the bullseye still be there ?

I broke all 14 in a bowl, separately, and not one had a bullseye or rot or anything funky. Just like breaking a fresh egg.

Someone posted the other day, that they pull their day 10 clears and eat them. I pulled two day 8 clears last night and there was no way we were going to eat them. Sorry about all the infertiles. Were these your eggs, or ones you bought?

Our first ever incubating experience got EXCITING today (day 20) with 8 of our 18 eggs hatching ... the rest have all pipped so just waiting to see that they can make it the rest of the way.

The first chick hatched this morning at 2:30am -- the most recent one hatched at 6:30 this evening; the humidity is staying around 76% since the hatchings started. I haven't pulled anyone (or the empty shells) out yet.

But, I'm starting to be little concerned (primarily because I'm not sure what all to expect) -- several have started pooping (green) and the others end of walking, falling, laying, sleeping, etc., all in it ... including the newbies that are still wet. The last two chicks were a wee bit different when they came out -- a bit more blood seemed to come out with them and more "gunk". At least two also looked different with their navels -- little but visible red dots. Is this a sign of open navels? Should I be concerned about infections setting in with the poop, etc., that everyone is falling into? Should I take out the older, drier chicks?

Please help a first timer!

Scramble them and feed them to your chickens.

@COChixHere is what I did with the thermo/hygro combo. It comes with a sticky velcro already on the back of it. All I did was cut a couple pieces out of a plastic water jug, cut some holes to keep ventilation and stuck it on there.

LOL! I like how you just say yuck!
I guarantee that if you had my buffalo sauce you would be begging for the cheese! No joke! I make stuff suicide hot. When it comes out the other end, you feel if you haven't had some kind of dairy with it! I believe that a food isn't good unless you need at least four tissues!

Hmm not sure. I prefer to approach food with the mentality that if it burns my mouth there's a decent possibility it's going to burn the other end. Prefer not to have that end burning so I don't go for the hot stuff.
