Both are correct, but totally different. Shorthand is a "shortcut"(hence the name), used in taking transcripts prior to the introduction of electronics capable of doing the same job more easily w/o the human error factor.

It was a planter. I plugged the drain hole for the pic. Looked like a monster cup of coffee to me
