So I think I found the source of many worming misinformations, they're in Gail Damerow's Chicken Health Handbook. No wonder so many people keep worming their chickens these ways. Sigh...

What is it saying that is wrong?

Ice, kosher or other large grain edible salt, swish around decanter, add a little water, swish, keep doing that until the film is gone. Vinegar works well to, so you can keep doing that too.
That's what we used to do in ALL of the restaurants I worked at when I was younger.

Shes out!!!! So far its 11/12! Not a bad first hatch eh?
AWESOME hatch!!

If everyone saw the world like a child, the world would be a better place. Sometimes you just gotta pop bubble wrap like nobody's watching to stay sane....

And doing the Mexican Hat Dance on it releases so much more stress!

Hi Sally, Finally, a somewhat update? -

19 of the 22 shipped eggs went in to lockdown Monday. So far, 2 under a broody hen, status unknown right now, and 17 in the deathbator. 5 have hatched, 3 pips. Easter HAL, 34 eggs into lockdown in the Brinsea - 15 Spitzhauben, 15 Bantam Blue EE, and 4 of my own Silkies. Eggs hatching for a friend - 19 still brewing-on day 12. 13 Salmon Favorelle and 9 of my own Silkies are on day 8. That adds up to 41 in my LG, which only holds 39.... I have 6 EE plus 6 MIxed backyard flock eggs from a friend, plus 13 Blue Buff Cochin that need to be set.

I am so excited to hear about all the hatching going on! Sorry CH about your issues, but you have gotten so much good advice, I hope you can change your mom's mind. Time for me to find some coffee, and check on the pips again!! Hippistink - I hope the job issue is a good thing?????

Happy Hatching everyone!!

enjoy it while it lasts, I heard they are doing away with it.
For all the bass fishermen out there, Uncle Josh pork rind is also going away. Seem hogs aren't being grown out like they were;they're being butchered at lower weights than before, which means thinner strips (from whatever part Uncle Josh makes their pork rind out of). They've been around forever.

1) Safeguard and Panacur horse paste dose for a chicken is a "pea sized amount".
2) Safeguard 3 cc per gallon
3) Ivermectin 4 cc per gallon

A pea size amount = 1/4 cc of the liquid = 25 mg fenbendazole, which is not enough to treat most worms.

Safeguard is not water soluble and settles very quickly. Even if it were water soluble, 3 cc is not enough medication to treat most worms.

Ivermectin is floats to top in minutes, so no chance of it working.
