I have a mean rooster (never attacked me, but won't hesitate to attack anyone else). I quit hatching eggs because of it. I do think there is a chance that the rooster passes on aggression. His days are numbered...Good morning all.
Thank you @kwhites634 , @Fire Ant Farm , @MotorcycleChick , @perchie.girl , and @lazy gardener and any others that I might have missed regarding the comments on rooster aggression. We will see how it goes. I definitely plan to keep a closer eye on him when he is out.
Is the thought that the aggression will actually be passed on genetically or is it through training from the older rooster. While he is my only confirmed rooster I have 22 chicks ranging from 2 days to around 2 months. Based on the ratios discussed yesterday I should have at least 1 rooster in that mix. Unfortunately, all but 5 are from him.
Looks like you aren't on now and I probably missed it but happy belated birthday @Akrnaf2
Good Morning!
I'm afraid to trim feathers. Never done it before and worried I would screw up. Good luck with the coop repairs!Afternoon y'all. Looks like i need to trim Duchess' wing feathers again, she's getting out and the only way i can imagine she is is by flying out again. Did everything I could to reinforce the bottom of the run so no one can dig out, and that's the only option that I think is left.
Bluebell gave another egg, which I'm happy about since I was sure that she was just too young and not just barren. Today or tomorrow I'm going to pull out the car jack and relevel the coop, it's all kinds of cattywampus and needs leveled if I'm going to repair it. Husband is just not wanting to rebuild and so i'm going to prove a point and show him that it's more expensive to repair the one we have than it is to just build a new one.
