I just read something on here about shaving off the paint with a nail file! I booked marked it since hopefully I'll hatch marans at some point. I can send it to you if you want or see if a search will find it, I think it was called "hatching dark colored eggs."

I also saw somewhere that took a q tip dipped in vinegar and just rubbed a small area big enough to see into the egg.

I'm taking the day off at home to "look after" them (not that they need it, apparently). They are totally fine, strong, healthy, and bouncing around, but I've still been enjoying watching them. Time for a nap, though (was up late finishing the quiche lorraine - which turned out quite well!)

My little polish chick seems to have seriously hard time keeping her neck up is she just weak from hatching today or does she have something wrong with her neck please help me

Hi Sally,+
I was just going to dip my eggs, to see if that improved my hatch rates at all. I was going to try Ascorbic acid, which is basically Vitamin C. In all the studies I could find, it did help dipping the eggs. I'm not trying to clean them, just improve my hatch rates - hopefully this gives them a boost.

I gave my polish chick some electrolyte water she drank some but is it normal for a standard polish chick to have trouble keeping her neck up I want to help her but I don't know what's wrong :/
