Oh no CHI am out of a job already
So do you guys bury wire around all your coops, or do you have an alternative for coops that may be moved later? This is being built on two 8' and two 10' four by fours. I will use hardware cloth, but I am worried about diggers with this and my other moveable coop. My big one has burried wire.

My coop is 2' off the ground, attached to the covered run. There's nothing for a predator to stand on while trying to get into the coop. i didn't bury wire; like you, I'm on ground with a lot of rock...shale mostly...and tree roots...trenching is a major PITA. I fashioned an apron of welded wire attached 2' up from the bottom of the run fence & 1' out on top of the ground, weighted down by heavy wooden fence posts. i do have a rodent of some kind that's tunneled under the apron to help itself to the feed in the PVC gravity feeder, but I put a cap over it at night that's solved that problem. Other than that, I've not had anything trying to get in...no evidence, anyway. So do you guys bury wire around all your coops, or do you have an alternative for coops that may be moved later?
