glad you figured it out. you forgot the last part of that phrase

"If it breaks it needed to be replaced anyway"!

and the part I personally like to add

"Or it wasn't needed to begin with".

Had a eye opener 15 years ago when I joined the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic and learned that extra parts after the job was done wasn't a good thing.
I was a recip mech in the AF. Our C-119's were so old that we always had enough extra parts to build a whole squadron of planes if needed. I learned another phrase there that's frequently come in handy: "Beat to form, file to fit, paint to cover"

Sounds like you would have made an excellent auto body repairman!!!

I was wondering how long it was going to take you to yank the darn thing up. If you unlatch the fasteners on each side and it lifts up a little, the only thing holding would be the hinges. Glad you finally figured it out!   :clap

You don't happen to work for a commercial airline now, do you??

Negative on the commercial part. Still Active Duty Air Force. From what I've heard commercial is worse. I have looked at the possibility of getting my certifications for commercial but not sure if that's where I want to go when I grow up.

They really don't seem to like the extra parts hanging around these days. Worried about accountability. Used to have enough parts in my backpack or under the seat of my truck to fix just about anything I encountered. These days you have to order everything and hope its in the system or wait a week or two to get it in. Last TDY I went on I had a bag for clothes and 2 bags worth of parts. We didn't manage to miss a single line for engine issues though. Kids these days don't get it when I say I do it because I approach it from the "not on my watch" mentality.

Roger that. I admire the job you guys and gals in the Armed Forces do. Keep up the good work, and if you ever decide to go commercial... remember... they sure could use your help! Don't hear of too many national flights falling out of the sky, so I guess that's a good thing. I know many airlines struggle to keep the fleets going.

Just pull a Peter Pan... and never grow up!!

I just received the tracking number for my eggs, and it looks like it'll be Thursday before they arrive. Was hoping for Wednesday, but I've waited more than 6 months, so what's another day?
