Good morning everyone! Hope y'all's weekends are going well!! Headed out to tend to the chickens and promised the kids we'd roast some afternoon s'mores and throw the pig skin around!

Good morning Texas, California doing great. Chickens tended, breakfast next. Then equipment maintenance.
The Christmas light rope I put in brooder is working great as a warmer. 60* in barn and noticeably warmer in box. They are loving it.

Good to hear it - I'm originally from CA...almost all of my family still lives there

Oh, @Sally Sunshine , thanks for the tip for feeder covers out of milk jugs. Alas, once they get to the "hoodlum" stage, you can see here that it doesn't always work. (GOT to get their growout tractor built asap. I wish they would feather out faster - it's been so warm that they are going slow...)

And was it here or on the backyard tips thread where the plastic nest pad was recommended? I have two nest boxes in the SS coop that I can't keep clean, so I tried it - it worked, they were willing to lay on them first day (I was surprised, not sure why, they are sold as nest pads, after all).

I got the last little bit of the Naked Neck paddock set up this morning (the part that routes them from the coop to the new paddock and blocks them from going into the old one), and then festooned the new paddock to protect from hawks - although I watched two crows chase a hawk away from my yard yesterday, still... CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!!!

Sure, it's a chore, but it's also a bit like finger painting, so kinda fun.

I was about to start the next task when I realized I had not actually had any breakfast yet, so I was just finishing up some scrambled eggs while catching up.

But that's enough resting, gotta head back out. Coop bedding clean and refresh (several), compost pile redo, weeding, planting (if I can get to it), mowing, lumber prep and maybe sealing (if it stops drizzling), mulching blackberries, covers for blackberry bird netting, fertilizing about 30 citrus trees, on, and on.... Sooooooooo much to do! No way they will all get done - I hope I get at least one done!

And none of it will get done by me sitting here, so I'm off again.

Hahahaha whites - Funny you say that because my husband jokes about that all the time - he's a true blue Texan...born and raised. I just got here as quick as I could!

But honestly, I always loved Texas and sometime after my divorce, I decided to move here with my two older kiddos. Been here about 3 years now.

We are on the 80 corridor. Good storm Friday night unless you had to travel. Chains only. Has the rain stopped for you and little one over the bug?

Wow - chains needed?! Yes out rain stopped but we're supposedly due for a really bad storm later on Tuesday and they're already making predictions of various outcomes. Biggest threat will be the potential for hail and tornadoes.

And yes, my little man is 100% better now - thank you!!

No snow tires? We can use snow tires (actually all-weather anymore) or chains here, though it's fairly rare to see anyone running chains; I don't even own a pair. I ran studded tires when I carried papers.

Saw a report of softball sized hail from the other day that damaged homes. Nothing can stop that.
Glad little man is good.
