Good morning Kathy!

On a more positive note, my Black Australorp (spelling?) has been sitting the nest tight for the last 2 days, so I marked 5 more white eggs with the sharpie and let her have them. She took them under almost immediately without question! Fun times!
Yeah! I can't wait till next year for someone to go broody. Good hatching.

Yes! The ones inside are slightly unnerving. Outside ones are fine by me... I got two garter snakes under the coop right now.

Won't your chickens kill them? Mine do

ok,so I need help asap.I left her alone and we went to church well when we got back I went to check and one wwas kinda of broke where the pip was well I tried to help but it isn't ready I stuck it back under her.its foot cought a vein and there is blood.and u can see a bunch of wet toward the pointed end of the egg inside.what can I do. I put it back and left it alone.
You should have left alone long, like give them 48+ hours ALONE

OMG, Jojo (drake) keeps getting in the way when I am pushing Duckling down the hill in her wagon. Finally today, he and Casey waddled over to the neighbor's. Duckling didn't want them to. I called Jojo back, not expecting a response. He came barreling at me!!
Later, the dog was over there (not sanitary, but this is the agreement we have) and Duckling wanted him back. I called him, and he just looked at me before returning to his sniffing. From my left, I see Jojo running at me!

That duck listens better than the dog!
Adorable!!! I hope my ducks have similar personalities

So my Browns won and they're in first place by 1/2 game in the East. White Sox are tearing it up.
The Cards have flipped the switch from last year. They won 100 games last year with the lowest run producing team in the majors and the best pitching.
This year they have the highest scoring offense to date while pitching has struggled a bit - at least for them. What's weird is they made very few roster changes from last year.

My house has a flat roof with very little space between roof rafters and ceiling joists. When I replaced the roof a few years ago, there was a huge dead snake in that space. I guess it came off of a tree but still don't know how it got in there.

I like snakes but they always startle me when they are unexpected. I see a few each week during warm weather.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten.

Candling is for artificial incubation, not for natural incubation.

Telling us that you left it alone while you went to church means that you play with the eggs all the time when you're at home. You're gone for a couple hours and candle again. What is going to change in a couple hours?
I candle once when I'm incubating to look for clears before transferring to the hatcher. I never candle under setters.

Good one.

Same here. I usually move a broody to her own apartment where she can sit in peace with just enough room to stretch and have food and water. I always put fresh bedding in the space. I can count the number of times they come off the nest by the big smelly hunk of feces. They don't always come off daily.

But guess what, I don't even open the door and the chicks still hatch without any intervention.

I have lots of limits. But when it comes to mammal parts, the only thing I haven't eaten and don't plan on any time soon is brains.

A Vietnamese friend told me that monkey brains is a treat for special occasions. They use a special table with a hold in the middle. They tie a live monkey under the table with the top of its head sticking through the hole. Slice the top of the head off and eat the live brains.
Disgusting

Did I just get called old again?

why are you so sensitive about your age, you should start giving duckling your birthdays, thats what i do

Good morning/day everyone!

Well, my Christmas chicks are 18 weeks today so I get to start watching for EGGS! I have not had any fresh eggs since mid February when I had to disperse and cull my birds.
Yay!! one of my chickens JUST starting layin this week and it is over a year old, but they are a pretty pink color so i'm glad

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum, but I have had a mother duck lay her eggs in a nest behind my bush at my home, i've been checking on her and was even feeding her bread....she was taking it right out of my hands last night. This morning as I was leaving for work i notice 9 eggs cracked open, I thought the babies have hatched, but soon realized that the yolk was out of the eggs, i gathers them all and threw them in a bag in my trash, i then noticed that the mom duck was dead next to her nest...i'm assuming an animal attacked her and the eggs last night, While grabbing her i noticed two eggs unharmed, I put gloves on and picked the eggs up, they were really cold, but I put them in a box with a bunch of towels and my husband is going to buy a heating lamp, my question is, could it be too late for these two eggs? I am so new to this, but it was so so sad seeing all the eggs, feathers, and momma duck laying there. Please help me any advice would be great. Thank you!
Good Luck!!!!! please keep us updated and share pictures whenever possible

Welcome to BYC!!! Lots of helpful people and advice!!

haha, yes I did. I woke up this morning and have my very first ever baby Muscovy.
Congrats, now leave them alone

Just a bit.

NO!!! I was accused of dating Chaos. I don't need to be accused of something I am not doing yet again.
Wow really? Chaos! thats just wrong! lol

I have an incubation update @Sally Sunshine

Woke up about 3am this morning, looked into the bator for pips and was still disappointed. I decided to candle the eggs. None were moving. It looked like one made the internal pip, but no movement or response to tapping. They should've hatched by now... Anyways I guess my update is I'm sitting at a 0% hatch on the shipped eggs. I'll leave them in until the morning, but I'm pretty sure none of them will hatch.
