Forgot to say for those asking how I upset - I recd a pm,

Still mad at myself for offending someone, I thought I was pretty obvious at who I was laying the blame on

It happens....that's the problem with the written word; it's sometimes misinterpreted because it doesn't allow for inflection, tone of voice, or facial expression. I've ticked off my share, I'm sure, for the same reasons. Don't beat yourself up over it.

I just got the pic of your coop build to blow up so I could see what you're doing.

Your nest boxes are a larger version of what I did.

Check on Amazon; they have that EPDM rubber sheeting in smaller quantities,,,no need to buy a whole roll if you don't need it.

It's flexible, so you can run it up the side, over the hinged edge, to keep the weather out.

I need to check with ChickenCanoe & see what he used for adhesive.

Thank you!  I bought a 1588 hovabator with the digital read for humidity and temp (38 Salmon Faverolles eggs with what looks like 28-29 viable). On the recommendation of another breeder, I removed the water from the tray for the night (Eekkk this makes me nervous). Its been an hour and the humidity is at 35% right now. May have been some left over water in there. Tomorrow I plan on filling tray #2 (rather than the larger Tray #1 trough) and see if that keeps the humidity down. Thank you for the info-I will go back and read the first few posts from this thread!

I have read about the weight lose and it looks like I am sitting around 5% so far-suppossed to be close to 14% by hatch....so thinking (if I calculated correctly) we are behind on the weight loss. Hoping that lowering the humidity will fix this.

Did you calibrate the incubator s readings? I found out you can't go by what the incubator or says. You should calibrate..my first hatch my air cells were way too small at 7 days. I had to drop my humidity down to 20 % for a week. After reading the article about the dry hatch I felt a lot better.
We have fairly good humidity were we live so that helps. The only time you must have high humidity is at lockdown for hatching. Not sure how the broody hen regulates it. I love Mother Nature.

That stuff sounds good. My SIL made me a coop but it leaks in the rain. It has no shingles or roof. Maybe that stuff would be good to use as a roof.
