Anyone know how to calibrate the humidity on the IncuTherm +plus, or if it's even possible? 
I checked the notes but didn't see it; might have missed it.

My other muscovy hen is setting on a clutch now of twelve eggs.and dies anyone else have problems with a first time broody pooping all in her nest because she doesn't get off of it.I have a bantam that it's her first time I stuck six Silkie eggs under her but there have poop all over

So I have my bator and put in 3 farm eggs from my father in law's chickens that he brings over just to make sure that I can keep the temp and humidity right. I have 3 thermometers, lol! It took a bit of adjusting but I have the temp
Right, the humidity is a little high, hovering around 50-55, is that okay! My eggs will be here tomorrow!

That humidity is too high. You should calibrate your humidity thingy

Hi everyone!
I am new to this thread. I will be getting approximately 24 LF Brahma eggs through the mail in the next day or 2. I have read Sally Sunshine's info on incubating eggs and shipped eggs, but I gotta tell you, I am starting to Freak out a bit!
I have had my bator on for 2 days now, and calibrated it with an external digital thermometer/hygrometer. I trust this digital hygrometer/thermometer, because I have had a high hatch rate with chicks and ducks in the past using this.
I plan to let the eggs sit a day and then put in bator and not start turner for 3 days. It is a new KingsUro Max 20 with a very slow, steady tilt.
My biggest concern is that our house humidity is 54%, hence so is the incubator. Based on everything I have read, it should be closer to 40% the first 18 days.
Any suggestions, thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

What would you check it against? 

Itself. I put the probe in the finger of a latex glove and submerged it in ice water. It was 3F high. I did the salt test to check the hygro, and it was only 1% off.

WAs wondering how I get a sponge in my incubator with my egg Turner in there.
This is my first time hatching eggs.

ummm, you probably don't want the sponge in there yet, not until lock down,
what is your humidity at?? what day are you on? what are your setting? what kind of incubator??

you can put rice in a sock to help absorb the moisture in there

I lost all my quotes! Good morning all! Congratulations to all the winners!!!

Duck weed - I had it in my fish tank and it was HORRIBLE! Chickens loved it though. Took almost killing the entire tank of fish, hundreds of water changes and it was gone.

A while back I posted a link to a presentation on raising the stuff. It has more protein than soy beans. It multiplies, rather than grow bigger. It is prolific! They grew it in any container they could find. Mostly white paint buckets. While the guy was talking he scooped out a big handful and put it in with a very large fish they had in a tank, and said it would eat it. My fish didn't care for it - I think that's why it took over.

I would consider growing it in containers, but I would not want to put it in a pond/lake or fish tank.


@daxigait - no word on the original chicken (I will call the vet again). On the ice chest I dropped off on Sunday, I called receiving yesterday and found out that they were working on the 2 chickens I left (one was my 11 month old roo, the other was Gotro17's 4 month old hen).

Last night eggs that I locked down....no pips when I left this morning, but I still heard chirping! It is one crowded incubator. I'll be pulling out dry chicks and egg shells early.
