I'm not too concerned about the color or the heat retention of the black, 'cause my coops both have very good ventilation immediately under the main roof, which is where heat would settle, anyway. I think someone was asking me about different colors; don't remember anymore.

I think the only colors are black and white.
The green on my nest box lid was actually HDPE.
It comes in a variety of colors. Even well painted, the plywood didn't hold up so I put a new sheet of plywood on and then covered it with the HDPE
