@Sally Sunshine

Hi Dear been crazy busy lately but I wanted some help if you can. The incubator was running about 28% humidity which I'm fine with BC the eggs are a bit behind due to the stagger, but we got rain last night and the humidity jumped up to 37% and even higher. I have two small bowls of rice in the bator but is there something else I can do?
I can believe miserable!! not sure what to tell you, I wouldnt worry at 37 whats the weather looking like???
Gooood Morning

Great snugglin' weather down here.

LOL it sure is!! Wish it was so! How are you whites?

Maybe. They just crow, and crow, and crow.:he
I have ten meat cockerels from 3/1 none of which are crowing yet. Only the CCL and RIR are crowing. Even my Welsummer from 1/21 has yet to crow so three out of 14 makes me lucky I guess.

Happy Birthday @hippiestink !

Also I forgot to mention this morning, I did set 6 more eggs in the incubator yesterday... Gotta keep my staggered hatch going. This is set 5, but 1 and 2 are already done, and 4 is under a first-time broody...

Toodles again. Make sure to join the May HAL!!

Hooboy. I lost my place. Anyway Thanks and Hi!

So, too much humidity causes curled toes. Apparently I had it backwards somehow. I'm going to have to correct that! It does explain a lot and why the issue is appearing as the weather is getting colder.
On the bright side the hatcher is giving me great feedback on its temperature and humidity. The industrial sensor is leagues ahead of the reptile terrarium temp / humidity thing we're using on the incubator.

Unfortunately it's dark right now so photos won't turn out too well, but the itty bitty Silkie egg from one of our young pet silkies has juuust started to hatch. It's her first baby! Another Silkie x bitzer is hatching along with it too. Should be interesting to see what this one is like. One of the recent ones has black skin. I mean beyond Silkie black. It's extraordinary!
Welcome to the madhouse ;) Did you calibrate your thermometers and hydrometers? Are you using more than one?
