I am trying to hatch mandarin ducks in my janoel 12 anyone have any advice. Thanks
Have you hatched anything else successfully in that incubator before?

Does it seem to hold the temp and humidity steady?

I don't know that you would do anything different, just watch the temp and air cells (humidity)

I've been wanting to try Mandarin Ducks, please let me know how it goes.

After two days of crying whenever I get her near the tub, I finally made Duckling get in. Of course, I had to get in too! LOL!
Now I have to rinse her hair, and she knows it. The tears have begun again.
Bye!

So sorry to hear that.

If you are thinking of getting a little chick think about getting two so that she has a buddy.

Let them rest for 24 hours before setting. How many are you going to set.

When are you getting her?

Sorry.
Thanks y'all. It happens all the time, I've gotten to the point where it's sad but it's a part of animal husbandry.

Do you have a place to send the bird for necropsy? Any others sick?
Perhaps this place could tell you where to go. Government or university labs will be much cheaper than a vet.

Ghent University is bound to have a poultry lab.

Nope, there's no one else sick. People here usually eat their birds before stuff like that happens, it's not considered worth it to take a bird to the vet and necropsy is usually only reserved for dogs, cats, cattle, and horses. Husband will be sad but he'll get over it, and since I'm doing deworming/delousing anyway I'm not concerned about the other birds getting whatever she had. Disinfected the coop in case though, and the run has been sprayed with a bacterial/fungal/viral disinfectant I used to use back when I was a kennel tech.

Here are some links we have on hatching and raising ducks. You might want to peruse this list and read the links that you think would be helpful.
