Depends on the size and shape. Keeping in mind that heat wants to rise, lower would likely be better.
Mine is a tall cabinet. The combination heat element and fan is in the center of the top and is designed to drive heated air out and down the sides and back up again. But it doesn't go down far enough - even with 3 fans on the middle rack blowing down. So I'm mounting a channel down the back with a ptc inside and a fan at the bottom to draw heated air from the top past the ptc and into the floor of the incubator.
It's rectangular in shape. 12D x 10W x 16H Was thinking of mounting it on the top with a metal heat deflector between it and the bator with two fans blowing on it and below it.
