Whew! I'm beat!!!! I spent the morning culling 10 cockerels. It's only my third or fourth time, so I'm not terribly efficient at it. This was the first time I tried skinning (the 7 fully feathered birds) or dry plucking (the 3 Naked Necks). Both went fine, though due to the weather coming in, I had to skip the pin feathers and will have to do those in the kitchen later today. I got done and cleaned up right before the sky opened up and it started pouring.

My feet are killing me - I'm currently recovering by watching some movies. I need to do a read back, but not really up to it right now...

I always hated cull day, luckily i don't do meat birds and i give away excess roos now, but back in the day (lol like 15 years ago) it was the worst day on the farm and always the hottest

I feel your pain

Off to our annual dog club picnic in Pleasanton.. Why do I want to stop by feed stores to look at what they might have? It's an addiction!

Tried to take some pictures of my week old chicks. I am selling them on Craig's list.

Hi this is my first time hatching eggs with an incubator and I have a question. I was gone all day yesterday and couldn't turn the eggs, and had no one to turn them for me. It looks like the embryos are sticking to one side. Is there anything to do to reverse that? And is that bad? Will they not be able to hatch? I turn three times a day. Should I turn them more?
Welcome! @BaileyMChicks when they are that small they look like that, you should be ok, just continue and turn as often as you can three is a min.

Quote: sweet!! good luck see if this can help you out some!!

Five fluffy chicks laying on the washcloth. The one chick that should be laying on it is in the back corner. At least I know that the chick can move!
