Hmm. Im confused also. I only had community tanks. I had one that had a tiger Oscar just over 12" and I had to do a few rounds of salt treatments in that one with no issues. I cant remember the ratio I used though. Big thing to remember is as it mentions will be the fact that the salt does not evaporate. Only way to reduce the salinity will be with water changes.

"Salt may be used as an aid in treating illness with most species of freshwater fish or on a regular basis with some species, particularly Goldfish and various Livebearers such as Mollies, Guppies, Swordtails, but not African Cichlids."

Reading it wrong. It's saying that you shouldn't use salt on a regular basis with African Cichlids.
