Sturgis lets me clip without trouble. I just stopped the regular care when they looked under control. Not cutting the quick is why he'd be put under. The vet would have just chopped them off, and woken him up once the bleeding had stopped. The pain meds would have been needed too, of course.
I'll work on him today, now that I know. I just did not think his nails were so long.

My mutt doesn't much care for getting her nails clipped.
