MY DUCK EGGS ARE HERE!! THANK YOU!!!!

I have an issue

My project birds, the Males seem to have way to long legs or should I say skinny? for that heavy body and they all end up this way. I have grown out six now and I am purely frustrated. I love the hens are so pretty and lay such nice colored Huge eggs, but the meat end I am not sure about for the cockerels. They can make it to butcher but I want and need to breed back at some point again and I am not sure about doing that with legs like this... so confusing at this point!! But maybe instead of eating them all out of frustration I let one grow out past a year and see what I have? not sure that will change anything but if he dont get major leg issues I would be happy. I never weighed in the last ones we processed, but he already stands almost as tall as the giant brahma and he certainly puts them in their place too.

So my set for the day......

Pray for good fertilty!! I have given up hope for these littles

I USED to have a date with Cashews at least three times a week, now I am told I have diverticulitis and need to change my eats....   I really miss my shews!!

YAY Alyssa is in the house!!  OMG serama are so bad, always broody!!  Too bad they cant majically keep a doz LF eggs under them lol!!  But I have a broody Giant brahma right now!!!  I am debating giving her the duck eggs I just set!!    And NO way read this thread, although many have, you couldnt pay me to do it!  lol  The first and second posts have the helpful info in them linked throughout the thread and I TRY to keep pulling it, its nice to get tagged in good info so I dont miss putting it in the notes if its not there!

I just said to Heather aabove what I just set and have hatching soon too...  tons of stuff going on here!   I sold all my silkies to a friend to keep HarmonyAnns new polish chicks and icelandics...  not sure where I will go with the icelandics but I will figure that out when the time comes!!  anyway!! WELCOME OVER!! @darkbluespace

LOVE the BIG broodies! My Salmon Faverolle is the only one I have ever had.. This is her second time. She hatched my original Seramas and she was an amazing mama. I think her hormones are off normally and she is loud and obnoxious, but when she goes broody she is quiet and sweet! She stayed broody for 4 months with the Seramas because they were so small.

A broody is such a great way to hatch ducklings... To save yourself the huge mess of ducklings in a brooder! I would let her hatch them especially if you are planning to keep them.

It is so rare for me to have a big broody that I think long and hard about what she can hatch! But mostly I just want bantams. I did order those cuckoo Silkie eggs and I may have her sit an extra week to hatch those if they are in decent enough shape when they get here. You have to take advantage of the best broody mamas to hatch the babies you most want!
