lol. So if I did the count right yesterday was day 25 and lock down? 28 days being Sunday? So far the entire time temp has stayed 100 +/-1. But humidity has not stayed consistent. Now I have water in bottom, a rolled up wet hand towel inside and a big towel wrapped around top on outside leaving 1 air hole open to get it at least 65%. I think if I open 2nd air hole I won't be able to keep humidity up. Its leveled at 73% but I'm sure it'll go down with lockdown. Is this all okay? Suggestions?

Started with 11 eggs. 2 were clear. 1 quit early took it out. At last candling (tuesday) 2 looked different then the rest but we left them in because were new and unsure. 3 were moving alot. The rest had some movement not nearly as much.
welcome! Your temps what level of the egg were they taken? Those sturos have more holes in the bottom you should be fine. I do suggest adding a fan you have nothing to pull the water off and into the air in there. Sometimes they hatch early. Good thing you rememvered. Good luck!

CLs are not cuddly chicks in my experience, but they are great chickens. The best way to this about them is to compare them to cats (vs. dogs). They are curious, and like people, but they like to come to YOU, on their own terms. It's actually kind of hilarious...

CL boys grow up to be fantastic roosters with regards to doing their job (caring for and super protective of their hens - really good boys this way), but NOT cuddle roosters - some would argue that the cuddly rooster of any breed is the exception, and that cuddling them when they are young can lead to anti-human aggression later. Not sure how old your daughter is, but for cuddling, pullets are better to get attached to - boys of any breed can turn in to monsters when they get older (really hard to predict who will, too). Alas, I have learned not to get (too) attached to ANY boys, since I have learned the hard way that I may need to pull the plug on them later, and don't allow them any lap time after about 6-8 weeks old.

Even little Goodwin, whom I have named and plan to keep, is on the same probation any boy is - turn into a jerk or try to attack me, and that's it.

OH! Good News LOL in my biggest loser competition at work, i am #1 !!!! down 7% [/quo] You go girlllll
It's funny, I had to ask my dad to move the eggs to lock down, since I wasn't home. Again, my SO is not so crazy about my chickens any more, I find it hard to say, let's stop at my house so that I can hatch more eggs. Plus long hours at work. I had 6 seramas that were 3 1/2 days behind. I would have locked them all down, but my dad said, he would keep them out. But he kept out 7 eggs. So, I've asked him 4 different times to keep an eye on that incubator. He says he has, and there were no pips or zips any time he looked and he wasn't going to stare at it constantly. Well I asked him to check ONE more time, and there was a hatched chick, stuck in the turner, so he hung up on me, and said "gotta go". Called me back to say no harm no foul/fowl. Chick was still wet, so we tossed it into the hatching bator. At 7 AM, we had 6 babies, and 9 am we have 11.....and LOTS of pips!!! These are almost all TJ's eggs. Sebrights, bantam EE's and Mille Fleur. There are a few of my own backyard flock eggs in there as well. I'm stressed that we had to open up the bator to toss in the chick, but he really was too wet to go into the brooder.
lol gotta love him! Congrats

@Chaos18 I opened the 7 unhatched eggs and found about what I thought I would; nothing even faintly resembling a developing chick in any of them. In some there was an unidentifiable brown blob; guess that was what would have been an embryo had it developed more. The one that surprised me most was the one that had shown definite embryonic movement and good veining on day 14...nothing now. I guess you'll have this, if you stick with it long enough.
Sorry, but glad got five. :fl. for pullets.

I am hoping he ends up being a good protector, he's just so small!

We have had numerous roosters that had to be re-homed due to their aggression. However, the people I gave them all too told me they were the nicest roosters they've had. So I'm confused, maybe we are just terrified of them! HA! My last one I re-homed was a big beautiful Dominecker. He lasted almost two years with us before he decided to attack me from behind, so he left after that. My daughter is 9 and I didn't want her to get hurt.
