I know nice n mean, but when my DH said he wanted to get our daughter a pony j was adamantly against it, the bigger the better!! I said if it's for her I want an 18hh Canadian Belgian
they are like big dogs really, my husband isn't even afraid of our horse anymore and will even help with chores , and pet her

I like 15 hands for size, they are short enough I can mount from the ground.

I went to summer day camp one year as a child as a special treat. They kept a mean adult male goat sheep (I remember now - it was a ram) adjacent to the horse riding pen (shared fencing) that would ram the side of the pen. Happened when we were walking by, and the horse threw me and then proceeded to jump up and down repeatedly with front legs, coming very close to landing on my skull and crushing it. I can still see them coming at me if I close my eyes.

I DID get back on the horse that summer, and also rode with a friend later in life. But never really got sufficiently over the anxiety to decide that it would be pleasurable to pursue riding further...

Is the thing with little horse like the thing with mean little dogs that yap and bite while the big ones are often sweethearts?

Oh my!! That sounds pretty scary!

Quote: I used to know a guy back in my trialing days who asked me to trailer his horse home for him. When we got to his place, the conversation went something like this:

Me: That's a pretty nice horse. How tall is she?
Him: She's 15.5
Me: No, she ain't
Him: Yeah, she is. I just taped her yesterday
Me: I don't know what you taped her with, but I guarantee you she's not 15.5. She may be 16.1, which she ain't 'cause she's too small. She may be 15 hands & 1/2", which she ain't 'cause she's too big, but she's not 15.5 'cause horses don't come that size.

And this guy was a breeder!

I can undeerstand your fear 100%, I've been thrown n kicked but nothing like that, I'm glad u got back on. And as far as I M concerned yes little dogs are not the nicest there are acceptions but not as many as bad ones, very comparable to the horses
