Is there a tornado watch? Doing the practice drills in school was always fun. Not!
I liked them. At least it was a change of pace and I didn't have to turn in the homework I hadn't done.

Thanks for the link. I read in Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens that it was supposed to be 102. Maybe I need a better book on incubating.

Thank you. I guess it's a little late now to calibrate using the boiling point method since they're supposed to hatch today (but no signs of life yet.

) For next time, is there a better way to calibrate at high temps other than using the boiling point method?
I am a burd lover and a dog lover! Dogs are good friends, and burdz are - I can't even describe it; they're just BURD so they're awesome! I love them all!
So you keep it at 102? I should try both ways and see which one works better ......

Awwww

I want to be in your class!

Alright. Since the eggs are lower now that they're not in the turner, can I keep the temp where they were before at 102? (Am I making any sense?)

That dog looks like it would be fun to dogsit! Border collies (most of them, lol) are very nice dogs.
I know lots of people use it as their bible but I'm not the biggest fan of Storey's.

My short list of books I recommend are Gail Damerow's 'Chicken Health Handbook'. That's a must have.
For small holders and backyarders Patricia Foreman's 'City Chicks'.
And for words of wisdom from a lifelong poultry man, Kelly Klober's 'Talking Chicken'. He's the author of many books on swine and poultry - and a good friend of mine.

Taking the eggs out of the turner would lower the temp of their surroundings. Without knowing more about your situation I'm reluctant to give advice.

If you always incubate at the same temperature and your incubator holds temps well. Judge by when they hatch. If they hatch early, your temps were likely high throughout. If they hatch late, they were likely low.

She's a great dog. Well trained, excellent recall and so obedient. I think I'm giving her back today because my friend is supposed to be discharged.

Am I bothering y'all because if I am I will leave
No, you're fine. We like complete sentences.

When a new bookstore, I think a Barnes & Noble's, opened up nearby I was excited to go in. The first chicken book that I picked up, said that chicks were supposed to be kept at 100° for the first two weeks of brooding. Then, you could start dropping the temperature 5° each week.
For some reason, I just don't want to go in that store anymore. The fact that they would sell such a book annoyed me too much!
All big bookstores will carry books with erroneous information.
That's on the threshold of baking chicks. A broody hen doesn't keep all ambient air at 100F.
I won't even move chicks outside cause it is supposed to get up to 100 for a couple days.

I know the internet keep going off and I can't fully make my posts make since
Understandable.

ok sorry the other thead didn't want me to be there because they were old
Many of us are old. I'm really old. That's not a problem. I have friends of all ages. Some in their 80s and some in their teens and 20s.

Mc the floor looks great by the way, bit jealous here. Hubby keeps saying nah on one due to his feet will get cold.
He needs better circulation.

Granny gone and done it they blocked me from there thread
That should be a leaning experience.
When you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten.

Adults like to read requests for help in complete sentence form and our questions answered completely.
While there is a plethora of random chat on this thread, if you're wanting to chat, you may find more acceptance in one of the social threads, perhaps in this area. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/24/games-jokes-and-fun

If you knew how much I hated to wear slippers, you would understand why it makes sense for me to have carpeting. However, I do appreciate wood flooring in some rooms.
That being said, I have no idea what this winter will bring, but there is a chance that I might be covering up the wood with carpeting. If I do, I am sure that everyone will beat the crap out of me!

Or some big rugs. I like Persians but they're pricey. I used to buy Chinese rugs when I had money. They were nearly as high of quality as Persians and had some awesome designs.

I disinfected the heck out of everything, including using vet-issue antibac/antibiral/antifungal spray. No one is showing symptoms besides Marguerite and vet confirmed Bronchitis. Got antibiotics and a shot, and she also suggested delousing.
