Joey, I didn't know you were still here when Dax was talking to you. You usually just pop in and out, and I thought she was waiting for you to read her posts next time you were on. :oops: I would have said hello otherwise. So, hello!!

@chickendreams24

She hasn't bothered mine.
Free range dog is the best, or electroFRY it! not the puny electonet either, go with a real electric fence, cost less than a $100 if you get a plug in model, wire is cheap, solar cost $$ I saw one at our feed store that is ac and dc with cables for less than TSC just ac, can add a battery and cheap solar panel from Northern Tool, few suggestions not my pics;

Was I supposed to go to sleep?

No! Everyone else is though....Sleeps good for you , but I don't very good....

@Ur-ur-ur-urrr Here are a couple of pictures I snapped quickly last week. One was one I just identified as a male and a pair. I will get some of the more mature birds. These two guys are late bloomers.

Good night!
That's a nice looking pair in the first pic. Should be able to get some good chicks out of those two.

I can't wait until my boys get tails. They look a little weird right now. Here's Champ, Jr. and his bobtail...

Hey all thank you for the support. I really need it. We lost the first chick about 5 pm and at 9:45 PM the second breathed it's last in DH2B's hand.

It also pooped as isn't uncommon in death but the stool was bloody and I take that as confirmation. The water is being treated and o have been syringe feeding them raw egg yolk laced with corid and electrolytes.

Is there anything else we can do? Am I doing anything wrong?

Would it hurt the littles inside to be put on a preventative dose? What age can they safely be given the corid?

As for the fox we look for it every night and wait up trying to catch it in the act. The flock has always been locked up every night. We are, however, locking them up earlier BC of it now but we never know when it will come.
Corid, at the correct dose will have them showing improvement within a day. By three days they will usually look completely normal.

You need to threat all of the littles. I would go with the 1tsp of powder per gallon for 7 days and then the 1/2tsp of powder for the next 7 days...and watch them carefully for signs of cocci to return.

I bet Kathy posted the chart but I will post it again since this is a busy thread.

And here I am thinking you don't love me anymore...

Nah... I understand. As of late, I'm usually not on as long as I've been tonight. Speaking of night, it's actually well past my bedtime. I really wish I could get caught up and hang out more... but life keeps calling me away. I'd love to stay and chit-chat, but I have a whopper of a day tomorrow. Sleep well, MC. I sure will...

Awe! I'm sorry. I do not know how bad your insomnia is, but I do understand not sleeping well myself.

:D I hope that you sleep well, and have a good day tomorrow/today. Maybe, someday, you can catch up on everything.

So what breeds are everyone's favorites / what do you keep?
My favorites are
Barnevelders
Dominique's
Brahmas
Olive/Easter eggers

We also keep
Orps
We have a maran chick
Some silkie chicks
2 New Hampshire reds
Sussex
Rocks
And mixes because mixes are great!

We plan to eventually keep orloffs as well but we are focused on the top 4 mixes ATM though we don't breed doms or brahmas yet, we are slowly building up our flock of doms and I think next year will think about that. And I wouldn't mind hatching a few brahmas either!

I'm Curious what you're all breeds of choice are?!

Where in NY are you? I'm in the foot hills of the Catskills, Delaware county. There is so many chicken breeds to fall in love with out there, I went from a beautiful egg basket to figuring out what I want for dual purpose, and keeping them rare, white jersey giants and now naked necks, keeping some easter eggers and silkies though, cause they are so COOL!, easter eggers lay great and the silkies have black meat and skin!
