Sounds like something caused it to short/fail. I've got a push mower that doesn't have a shutoff switch unless you move a plate that I bolted on to it.......Just don't let go over the mower going down a hill cause it won't stop running.

I forgot to be sure the kill switch wire was plugged in. The darn thing would not shut off.
