Current situation....10 min ago
He condensation at on the view window is an indication that the humidity is higher than the reading. Condensation usually does not happen until closer to 90%. That can be bad because it will push out the oxygen and the chicks will suffocate.

Got the humidity up to 70.....Chick has pipped and made a hole but isn't doing much else. I keep reading about drying membranes and such.....which membrane is the one that shouldn't look white? The membrane I can see is the one right under the shell. I am at work now and I really want to be home in case it needs help.
get your hygrometer calibrated.

Membranes will dry out but they turn brown if so. It takes time and the humidity helps it take a bit longer but membranes will always dry out given enough time. From my experience it is best to keep humidity at a verified 65%. If you still have condensation on the view window, humidity is likely too high.

Sounds like a good plan Phil. Both my kids like to watch the chicks hatch.
