not 100% sure how you meant this but i am going to say thank you! You're already scarce...not many like you![]()
thats neatSo I did an experiment... Last weekend I found a broody on 8 eggs that were about 7 days developed and I removed the eggs so I could put pea eggs under her. Then just for grins I put these 8 eggs in the incubator yesterday and they all seem to be alive. Kind of strange that, right?

awesome!!! time to set more duck eggs!Well I went to the poultry swap meet this morning and my ducklings were gone in a minute flat.....I made many contacts....people have me their numbers and ask to call them if I hatch more....so it all went Better than expected....no one brought any exotics today for hatching but I got some free quail eggs coming soon and I found a local source for icelandics.....yay....even sold my KC eggs for hatching.......
beautiful, maybe someday, when i get over not wanting to flyYou should but avoid the touristy areas. I've been there more times than I can count. Aside from that one day foray into Tijuana, My first real visit was on my honeymoon. We spent half of it in Cancun and half on Isla Mujeres. It was a long time ago before Cancun was built up. There were only about 6 hotels there. Now there are hundreds on both the ocean side and the lagoon side. On our honeymoon, the only thing on the lagoon side was a restaurant out over the water called Lorenzillos. It may still be there. The wait staff fed crocodiles off the side of the deck. Isla Mujeres is really built up now. There were only 2 real lodging options then.
There used to be a charter airline (MLT vacations) that would sell cheap last minute tickets from here to Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo. That's how we were able to go so often. We would fly to those tourist destinations and then either get on a bus or rent a car and get out of town into the countryside or to a remote beach destination. There are places with beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear water that go on for 40 miles with not a person in sight.
Air fare was usually between $120 and $250 pp. Once, after Y2K, I took my whole family for $25 a person. We rented a Mayan hut on the beach for $50. No electricity or running water. You had to get water out of the well out back to flush the toilet.
We've been to many of the Mayan archeological sites, some multiple times. Tulum,Tikal, Coba, Chichen Itza and the minor ones on Isla and Cozumel. I want to go to Palenque.
We discovered some of the most amazing places by accident just getting out into the countryside.
We went horseback riding in the mountains north of Puerto Vallarta (where I discovered Herradura tequila) and went to an incredible 80 meter waterfall. that we swam in. We had to tie the horses off in the river and climb another mile but it was worth it.
We stumbled onto this place when trying to drive to the southern end of the Yucatan peninsula.

Ken, the broth didn't stay down.
lol, what happened to not setting more eggs??? lolI sure hoped so, but seven is a mighty small group of test subjects.
Hey....... It is all in the name of science if I set more eggs to try an' figure it out, eh?![]()
your dna is flawed lolInquiring minds want to know. We need to know how & why things work; it's in our DNA![]()
Well, I got all seven processed in about 2-2.5 hours or so (skinning). Cried with each one - but was grateful that I've done this enough now to make each a very clean death. The worst part was finding this inside one of them - she would have laid her first egg today.
The other CL (eight pullet) did survive the night and went back to the coop to look for the rest, so I caught her and closed the book on this whole thing.
I got my weekly weights on the others, now I'm back inside having more coffee, and crying again.
I've culled before, a number of times. And I am at peace with the reasons I had for culling these pullets. I just wish I didn't feel like such a monster.![]()

welcome to the thread, and GOOD LUCK!!! let us know if you have any questions!Just thought I would say I started my first incubation yesterday morning. Got a dozen mutt eggs put in place in still-air LG with the little turner to make life easier for me (as long as it works, right?).
Humidity has stayed between 47 and 49 % and the temperature has held absolutely still at 100 on the digital thermometer, 101 on the...non-digital?
Here's hoping it stays this steady for the next three weeks!
lol
sebbies???so sad in the home, while my aunt was in I would bring gifts for the ladies in the hall that sat, with permission of course, one lady loved counting fake money but she had no change so I bought her one of those real looking cash registers with real looking money and change in it, she was so thrilled, she didnt rememebr us from one time to the next but she always sat in the hall and they gave her a table to sit in her wheel chair with and she was always counting that cash!!! Harmony took her one of her purses and a wallet one time too. When she passed away several months later we were so upset, kiddo couldnt stop crying, so sad in there, it takes a strong person to do a job like that, even the janitorial crew is so nice, when my aunt passed everyone was crying with us. I have an issue with chipmunks and the dang things are so cute ughhhh

awwwww poor thing
your not prego are you?
want to come to my house and make me some pens??
lol, yep its normalNervous. Freaking. Wreck. Some may remember my hen Pipsqueak hatched a beautiful chick last Monday....due to an accidental stagger she had another developing embryo that we had to pop in a makeshift incubator last Wednesday. Today is day 18 and when candled before lock down I had a clear internal pip. Around 4:00pm the egg was bopping around and tweeting. Then it stopped. I have heard it a few more times and it wiggles every now and again but no external pip yet. I know it's still early and this little guy has the odds stacked against him as this is my first time and I thought the hen was gonna do the work. I have given him the best environment with the limited resources and experience I have. Is it normal to be this nervous???
woohoooo!!!
yay! it pipped, pip to zip can be 24 hours so
you dont need cream or sugar if its iced thoughShe does, I don't. She drinks iced coffee.
good luck, i hate fire ants!Fire Ant
I found yesterday that my back yard is infected by the small fire Ant! It is an invasive species here! I have got stung!
I bought today a special gel that attract the worker ant they eat it snd take it to the nest and feed the qwine and kill her!
I pout it ont their trail and they just swarmed on it! I really hope that thst eill be inofgh. If not I should do it another time.
ROFL!!!It's not my fault!!!!!![]()
I don't like using pesticides in my yard, but a long time ago I did try a highly recommended ant killing product. I swear you could almost HEAR the tiny peals of laughter - didn't work AT ALL. And it was expensive. Most people here in Fire Ant Land will tell you the same (even if they don't care about using pesticides), and have various more home grown remedies.
The only thing that has worked for me is a cocktail of orange oil and compost tea infused with garlic. Works very well (and also fertilizes the soil). I can share the recipe if you want. In the end, you want to be able to move them away from where they are a nuisance (e.g., in a walkway or in a garden bed). This will do that pretty effectively without poison, in my experience.
(For what it's worth, around here, the ecology is such that fire ants keep away ticks and fleas in your yard. Kill the fire ants, and you end up with fleas and ticks, esp. an issue if you have dogs.)
- Ant Farm (I don't REALLY farm fire ants, and I CERTAINLY don't export them!!!!!!!)![]()
i think your humidity might be too high, looking at the glass in your batorGot the humidity up to 70.....Chick has pipped and made a hole but isn't doing much else. I keep reading about drying membranes and such.....which membrane is the one that shouldn't look white? The membrane I can see is the one right under the shell. I am at work now and I really want to be home in case it needs help.
who are you trying to roust?Frère Jacques, frère Jacques,
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
