I don't envy you being sick, but I do envy such a beautiful day on the lake. Remembering you and your wife(when is the funeral?).![]()
One of my ugly mug...and one of several smallmouth i caught today....![]()
A bald eagle....this morning....![]()
Early morning at the boat launch....
Howdy all my friends.....was a nice morning......

Going great Joey. How 'bout with you, other than being too busy?
Ok so I'll keep the s'mores for another day. Couple fires they are flying planes for here. 106 in the shade. Chickens are good.
Ouch, we only hit 98 today. I hope the temps drop for you soon!!! Stay cool.
Okee dokee! I am done!![]()
I have a lot of scratches from picking up a muscovy. He didn't like it. Oh well! We both learned that they are hard to skin.
Six boys were due to be processed, but one escaped when I was putting him in the holding pen last night. Another escaped today, but was caught later. The one from last night almost got caught. But, he was too leery.
I slit the neck, and learned to skin. I know how to pluck. I know the easy way to get the lungs out.. And that I am still not very good at it. Oh well! I think I can do this on my own. I also think my grade was only a C. Okay, maybe a B. Speaking of bees... I was stung in the eyelid. Oops!
The pictures are on my phone (nothing graphic) so I will post them in a minute.
I have to tell you, I handled this a lot better than I thought I would! Also, I am sitting here with guts in my hair, and I don't care!![]()
Okay, pics in a minute.
Oh! I still have six fingers! That is what I started with, right?
I hope that they get Forest Hill under control soon. This heat is HORRIBLE for all firemen and women with the gear they carry and protective clothes they wear. They overheat fast. Santa Barbara is 93% contained, Kern county is only 40%. The Kern county fire took out a LOT of homes. It's really sad. So far, the fires have all been JUST far enough away that we haven't had any problems with smoke or ash. I know from prior fires in the area, the big chickens can handle the bad air, but the babies struggle. Thanks it gets a little scary here at this temp. Forest Hill has a fire going now.
Are the fires in your area under control

I really do hope that you get a break from the ridiculous temps. I remember when I lived on the east coast, the hot, humid nights. Out here, it usually cools down at night, but lately, it's been 85 falling asleep and 90 at 9 am. When does it cool down?
